It is designed to fire a variety of ammunition types, including armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot (APFSDS) rounds, high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) rounds, and high-explosive squash head (HESH) rounds. This flexibility allows the gun to engage various types of targets, including armored vehicles, fortified positions, and personnel. One of the key features of the EX60 main gun is its advanced autoloader system. It is capable of rapid reloading, reducing the time between shots and increasing the rate of fire. The autoloader can hold a number of rounds, ensuring a continuous engagement capability during intense combat situations. The gun's accuracy is enhanced by its advanced fire control system. It incorporates a range of sensors, including a laser rangefinder, thermal imaging, and ballistic computer, to provide precise targeting information to the gunner. This allows for accurate engagement of targets at long ranges and in adverse weather or low visibility conditions.

The EX60 main gun also features a stabilized platform, which minimizes the effects of vehicle movement on the gun's aiming.

This stabilization system ensures that the gunner can maintain a steady aim, even when the vehicle is traversing rough terrain or undergoing rapid maneuvers. In terms of penetration power, the APFSDS rounds fired by the EX60 main gun can defeat heavily armored targets, including tanks and other armored vehicles. The high muzzle velocity and kinetic energy of these rounds enable them to penetrate thick layers of armor, neutralizing the threat posed by heavily armored adversaries. The gun's muzzle velocity, which refers to the speed at which the projectile leaves the barrel, is approximately 1,750 meters per second.
